There is much to celebrate and to be proud of on this 50th anniversary of the formation of the Hebden Bridge Junior Band. We are all so grateful to Mr Brian Robinson and the parents who originally had the vision and inspiration to provide musical opportunities for young people in Hebden Bridge and the Calder Valley.
Over 450 young people have taken up this opportunity with the experience of learning to play a brass instrument and perform in a band with other musicians.
I have had the privilege to be associated with the band for 45 years as a Committee member, Secretary, Vice Chairman and proud to have been President for 20 years.
The band members have shown continued dedication to the band and the community. Their parents and families have all supported the band, some by their commitment to serving on the Committee.
May this commitment and enjoyment continue to grow and give future young people the same opportunity to be a member of such a wonderful organisation.
